Rory McIlroy has praised Shane Lowry's comeback to form after his dominant win at the Amgen Irish Open. The Co Down man said that Lowry had finally reached his potential, stating 'class is permanent.'

McIlroy spoke about the pair having heart-to-hearts this year, following some tough times for Lowry when he lost tournaments from a winning position. The 39-year-old stormed to an 11-shot win at the Amgen Irish Open, shooting eight birdies in his final round.

The record-breaking win has done wonders for Lowry's confidence, and McIlroy believes it will have a positive impact on how he approaches final rounds going forward. 'He really went out there and grabbed the tournament by the throat,' said McIlroy.
