Merck Lands Exclusive Rights to SciBrunch's KRAS Inhibitor for Up to $2.13 Billion
Pharmaceutical giant Merck has made a significant move in its pipeline of targeted cancer therapies by acquiring exclusive global rights to SciBrunch Therapeutics' experimental KRAS G12D inhibitor SPR2015.
The deal, valued at up to $2.13 billion, includes a $400 million upfront payment for SciBrunch and the potential for additional payments tied to development, commercialization, and milestones across multiple indications.
MERCK will hold exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize SPR2015, which targets one of the most prevalent mutant forms of KRAS found in human cancers.
According to George Addona, senior vice president of Merck Research Laboratories, 'Evidence continues to accumulate for the therapeutic potential of targeting the KRAS pathway,' making this acquisition a strategic move for the company.
