Nvidia's Memphis Expansion Accelerates Amid Rising Competitive Pressure
Nvidia's Memphis data center expansion is accelerating as Elon Musk outlines an aggressive plan to double down on Colossus 2, which currently runs 110,000 GB200 processors and 440,000 GB300 chips. Musk plans to bring online another 220,000 GB300 units next week, with a further 220,000 following in November.
This expansion is seen as a tangible demand signal for Nvidia's silicon at a time when the broader market was focused on macro currents. Meanwhile, Huawei's push into artificial intelligence chips, unveiled last September and slated for market launch next year, is building competitive pressure from China.
Nvidia's fingerprints were also visible across several infrastructure developments, including Nscale's $3.36 billion pre-IPO funding round, anchored by a preliminary commitment from Nvidia Corp. of $1 billion. The funds are scheduled to be made available in mid-November 2026.
