Pakistan's Finance Minister discussed potential financing for Boeing aircraft with the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM) for privatized Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), refinery upgrades, and the Reko Diq copper and gold mining project in southwestern Balochistan. The government is assisting PIA in accessing financing and suppliers, but is not buying aircraft directly.

According to Finance Minister's adviser Khurram Schehzad, a sovereign guarantee or taxpayer-funded loan has not been announced for the Boeing aircraft financing. Instead, US EXIM could secure financing against the aircraft and assess the airline or lessee's creditworthiness.
