NASA has extended its contract with Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX), adding three more crewed Dragon flights to the International Space Station through 2030. The deal is worth up to $946 million upon completion.

The extension brings SpaceX's total under the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability contract to 17 operational missions. NASA said this move helps maintain access to the space station with two unique commercial crew industry partners, including Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA) which provides astronaut transport via its Starliner capsule.

SpaceX will handle ground, launch, in-orbit, and return and recovery operations under the modification. The award also covers cargo transportation for each mission and lifeboat capability while Dragon is docked to the space station, according to NASA.
