Swansea Native Returns to Lead Amazon Fulfilment Centre

Chris Bailey, a local Swansea native, has been appointed Site Leader at Amazon's Swansea fulfilment centre. He first joined the company in 2010 as a seasonal associate while completing his master's degree in business management.

Bailey progressed through nearly every level of the business over the next 14 years, moving from Area Manager to Operations Manager and eventually joining Amazon's service transportation team. As Regional Operations Manager for the West Cluster, he was responsible for seven sites across Wales and the Midlands.

During his tenure, Bailey helped shape Amazon's Delivery Estimate Accuracy strategy by introducing mechanisms that remain in place today. He returned to the Swansea site in 2024 and passed his Site Leader assessment in February this year.

The Swansea centre is one of only three Amazon buildings in the UK that combines inbound, outbound, and customer returns operations under one roof. In 2026, the site delivered a record-breaking festive period with strong gains across all three areas of its operation.
